It’s Sunday morning and you want to fuel up for your long run with a protein-packed smoothie. Enter: the protein shake blender. Often but not, always, smaller than the typical full-sized blender, these gadgets can handle frozen fruit, ice cubes, and raw nuts—and they’re way more cost-effective than their bulkier cousins. Here, 10 of the best mini blenders that deliver creamy results and can be tossed in the dishwasher for easy clean-up after. Find the best of the best below, as well as a few backup options we recommend.

The Best Mini Protein Shake Blenders

Ninja Nutri-Pro Personal Blender

Best Overall

Our best overall protein shake blender ticks just about every box. For one, the price isn’t terrifying—if you’ve never shopped for a decent blender before, prepare to be shocked by the price range. It’s plenty powerful (ice, frozen fruit, and other rigid foods aren’t an issue) but its size remains compact (it’s about half the size of a usual coffee maker). Plus, we really dig the to-go cup—it’s made a bit thicker than most and doesn’t feel as cheap. Plus the lid actually works, which is more than we can say for some cheaper options. The only downside for us is the noise level. In short, it’s not quiet, but very few of these personal-sized blenders are. It’s not a dealbreaker for us.

Pros
  • Powerful
  • Sturdy to-go cup
  • Compact size
  • Solid price point
Cons
  • Noise level

Magic Bullet Blender

Best Budget Option

Magic Bullet has established itself as one of the go-to brands for personal blenders, and for good reason. This 11-piece set does it all, whether you’re chopping, mixing, blending, whipping, or grinding. Versatile and easy to use, the Magic Bullet does way more than you’d expect from a $30 blender: it chops, mixes, blends, whips, grinds, and more. Though the wattage (200) is much lower than some of the other models on this list, the lighter weight and $39 price tag make this an excellent starter or budget option that still performs. We wouldn’t go cheaper than the Magic Bullet.

Pros
  • Incredibly affordable
  • Recognizable brand
  • Versatile
Cons
  • Can lack for power with particularly thick shakes
  • Feels a bit cheap

Beast Blender

Best High-End Option

This sleek, carbon black personal blender almost looks like art when you’re not using it. The innovative 12-rib vessel design is meant to increase turbulence and blending efficiency (the ridges help to push food toward the blades), while the drinking lid and carry cap make it easy to bring on your morning commute. At 1000W and 1400 RPM, it’s significantly more powerful than most of its compact competition, too. Power isn’t everything with blenders, but it does provide some insurance when you add a bit more protein powder than than usual and your blend is on the thick side.

Pros
  • Feels powerful
  • Looks great on a countertop
  • Lots of power
Cons
  • Fairly pricey

Breville Boss To Go

Best Quiet Option

We’ve come to expect greatness from Breville appliances, and this compact machine is no exception. This blender creates the creamiest smoothies by using a patented Kinetic blade and bowl system to pull ingredients down, and large curved sweeping blades that pulverize them into a super-fine texture. Reviewers note that the included cups are a great size and are very comfortable to drink out of, unlike some other brands.

Pros
  • High-end materials
  • Much quieter than most small blenders
  • Extremely powerful
Cons
  • Price

Zwilling Enfinigy Personal Blender

Best-Looking Option

If style is something you care about, this model from Zwilling looks cool and modern on your countertop. It has excellent blending capabilities, with a 500-watt base, touch control, and hidden display when powered off. Plus, if you’re not much of a chef, you’ll appreciate the accompanying Zwilling app, which provides a database of original recipes created especially for Enfinigy products.

Pros
  • Looks like it belongs in The Jetsons
  • Simplified controls
  • Sturdy
Cons
  • App connectivity is lacking

Reviewers note that while it is a bit loud, it’s so powerful that you won’t have to bear the deafening sound for long.
